Israel has embraced the internet, and leverages it for the success of the local economy.
In parallel, the technology sector in Israel is playing a significant role in shaping the world
wide web and its contribution to the local and global economies.

The Mckinsey report estimates the volume of the Israeli internet economy in 2009 to be ~50 billion NIS,
representing ~6.4% of the Israeli GDP. By the year 2015, the volume of the Israeli internet economy is
expected to reach ~85 billion NIS, representing ~8.5% of GDP.

McKinsey & Company is responsible for the analysis and conclusions of this independent report,
which was commissioned by Google, in order to advance the understanding of the internet’s role in
shaping the Israeli economy.
